Do you remember those glorious early 2000 Saturday morning cartoons? Waking up early to catch all the cool anime back when it was still new, exotic and fresh? How excited you were to watch Shaman King, Ultimate Muscle, Kirby and the rest?

Where did all that magic go?

Just try to keep the download going, man. I know what it's like to have a shit connection. Leave your computer on overnight if you have to - it's worth it.

When I was a kid my mom had this boyfriend that bought me a box set of Dragon Ball Z VHS tapes because he knew I liked anime. That was the first time I watched DBZ. It was in the Namek arc though so I didn't really know what was going on. Still it was so cool watching it even without the context.

Any of you guys have shows that you watched out of context but still really liked?

FLCL, Big O, Ruroni Kenshin, .hack//sign, GitS…

All of those I saw randomly on Adult Swim late at night and did not understand one iota. Gundam and DBZ ran during the afternoon, so those I watched and loved, but the others, especially .hack and FLCL really stuck in my mind as vague suggestions of imagery and music for about a decade until I started becoming more curious about where those memories came from.

Link heavily related. Especially at :50 - that voice stuck in my head not tied to anything concrete for 10 years.

Anyone have any cartoons or animated movies that have nostalgic value to them?
Here's two of mine:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYk6rPpIvAI
Originally watched this one for the first time when I was 5 or 6 years old. At this point I only remembered a few bits from when the kids were actually in Dreamland and the very end without context, just recently found it again and rewatched, and since I'm old enough now to actually understand what's going on in it, I got a little teary right at the end.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kcw8jCxO-Os
Much more recent by around 60 years, I remember watching Magic Adventures of Mumfie: The Movie around this same timeframe, possibly a little earlier. Oddly enough all I remember is the very beginning and the whale with the interior of a cruise ship. (Just… don't question it.)

It's not the same. They run new anime with that cheap, washed out, soulless, no shading look. They need to run classic 80s and 90s anime from when they actually gave a shit about making it look good.

Are late 2000s subhuman kiddies allowed?

I finished every episode of that "There she is!!" flash series yesterday (and fuck it made me feel) and it makes me

1) Wish it was 2008 again.
2) Make me realise how much I missed out on during that period and how I was always late to the crowd on so many things that were famous during that period.

As a kid I was dumb and hardly finished any vidyas or watch a lot of flashes and stuff and playing/viewing them today seems pointless since the hype is all gone. Hell, I can't even play Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (although I did see my brother and cousin play it as a kid, and is still very much nostalgic) because it just feels barren knowing it's a decade more since it's been made and hype was around it.

yeah, boners games were cool lets play videos without commentary, but my fav with commentary were cloud8745's, he did a lot of games that even to this day not many others have done like Gregory Horror Show for the gamecube.

>I just want to go back to minecraft alpha again playing with friends
Holy shit that game got me through a dark time. I had no real friends id hang out with after school partially because of the game.

No.250

I was born in 1996 so I was still a kid late 2000s. No point in saying I was a 90s kid, but I did start with some things fairly early. Started playing video games in 1999 and had a computer real early.

>tfw you, your friend and your brother will never eat oven pizza playing Halo 3 listening to Daft Punk in 2007-2008 again

I started going on 4chan in 2009, so it's kind of the tail end of all of it but it still counts. /b/ was still a dump them, I assure you if you weren't there, it was only cool because I was literally 13.

I remember albinoblacksheep pretty well, as with some flash game websites from the era.

yeah. I started playing fallout 1 and 2 pretty young and that was my catapult in the internet.

haha fucking bagel bites, bugles and video games nothing better. I miss it ;_;

No.252

Yeah, I've always been behind the times, especially in the 00s when I was too poor to keep up with much.

My computer was a hand-me-down from 1998, so the most I could really do was hang out on imageboards and IRC channels, play a few Flash games, run SNES emulators, and write simple programs. I couldn't really connect with anyone because I couldn't afford to get into all the stuff that everyone else was into. I had a Wii and a DS, but I didn't have any games for them that anyone else cared for (except Brawl). It wasn't enough to really connect with the other people in school who liked gaming.

It wasn't all bad, though. I miss staying up until like 4 in the morning during summers, playing around with Python and making weird and useless programs, making an ass of myself alongside others on IRC and imageboards… it could have been better, but it wasn't completely bad.

The last couple years were actually pretty good. I made actual friends for once (no idea what brought us together, though), got a decent computer for my birthday, and started playing a bunch of the games from the 00s that I missed out on. Too bad that by the time things started getting good, high school was getting ready to end.

I really wish I could redo the latter half of the 00s with way more money. I probably would have had a much better time.
