I definitely would go out of my way to say this is probably one of the best out there.

What are some good, long songs? I know I enjoy spacing out to songs that build and progress over a long time while I'm working. Whether it's an album with seamless transitions or just a long-ass song, I want to hear what your favorites are.

I feel like the 3 minutes and change for a track and then on to a brand new song can get a bit jarring and distracting sometimes

I know Pink Floyd and King Crimson are good bands for that, and I like X Japan's 'Art of Life' and Dire Straits 'Telegraph Road' as other examples of longer songs I like

I don't listen to long music as much as I probably should because I'm a very impatient person.

That said, when I do end up listening to the longer ones they immerse me much more than shorter songs into a certain mood.
I don't really just sit there and listen to short songs, they accompany my doing other things.
Longer songs will sink me into them though, it's a really nice feeling.

I love long songs too. They're kind of trance inducing.

As for recommendations:
The Doors- The End
The Velvet Underground- Sister Ray (also check out the live version, it's even longer)
1983… (A Merman I Should Turn to Be)
Abbey Road side 2
The Kilimanjaro Jazz Ensemble- Lead Squid
Anything by Myrrors if you like psych rock
Wooden Wand & the World War IV- Our Father the Monster (highly recommended)

Also not sure if it's your thing, but I really enjoy long international music. Sitar pieces by Ravi Shankar, Djivan Gasparyan (Pangea is a good mixed album), Naseer Shamma (Hadatha fi al 'Amiriyya is great) etc.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I don't know if this is self advertising or not, just wanted to share link to my Bandcamp. I make music mostly for myself, and I love when people say they like it. Really fills my heart.
Just sharing my works, I don't really care for feedback or anything.
General sharing music you make thread I guess?

Not really my cup of tea as far as genre, but this seems well produced and kind of chill, nice dude

No.73

This is actually really good; as the other anon said it sounds very well produced. I'm not usually a fan of techno because I find that it often tends to drag, but this was really nice to stick on and zone out to. Apologies if this is not how you envisaged listening to it.
I also like the artwork.

No.74

Pft, apologies for what? You choose how to listen to it, you are the listener, you can do whatever you want with it.
As I said, I'm glad I can share my work with other people. I try to do as many styles as I can (always into the electronic genre, I do all by PC obviously).

Thanks for the listenin', appreciate it, was hoping more people would share.

it's like being in the passenger seat of a car with heavy eyelids, nothing other than the small clicks and clacks of the suspension and the occasional whir of another car passing you in the opposite lane.. the windshield wipers wiping just a little too slow, just slow enough to see the rain blur the distant traffic lights every other moment.. the ticking of the blinker falls in sync with the radio every few seconds, almost hypnotically, how does the driver not fall asleep to this heavenly music? click, click, wipe, wipe, click, whir, clack, blink, blink, blink, blink…

beautiful description anon

even more beautiful music

i've always loved sounds

I could imagine this as the last thing i'd ever listen to

No.67

I would love to enjoy falling asleep as a passenger, but I get really worried that if I fall asleep it will make the driver fall asleep too

IM AT DEATH GRIPS RIGHT NOW

first time seeing them live

No.57

How was it anon? Did you have fun?

I have no idea what Death Grips music is like, and whether or not he's actually not into 3D women, or that's just an "ironic" "le black anime man xD" image

No.58

>>57
Definitely a dumb ironic image, I have no defense for it.

It was a great time, very loud. Didn't play a few songs I had hoped they would, but still good.

The cool thing about their performances is that there is no fluff, they don't speak in between songs, when they come on, and after the last song, they just run off stage.

I haven't liked them for a couple of years, I've found their most recent work to be kind of weak, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to go see them.

No.65

>>58
I love Death Grips! Which songs did you hope they would play?

most notably, they did not play culture shock :(

Do you guys have a song or an album that rises strong feelings on you? Specifically romantic or sexual feelings.

I fell in love with this song and I always listen to it when I fap. Why?
Its a love song but unlike other pop/rock love songs it isn't soft or innocent, it has a strong energy and lyrics that aren't too subtle or too obvious about their meaning and it really summons that desire to make to bodies into one, not just have sex but make love. You get what I mean.

I don't know about other songs that balance the sexual desire with the romantic emotion so well, pop/rock love songs are always too tender and I do know lots of funk songs with sexual content but none that is a plain love song or that balances both feelings.

To make my point across I should compare The Kinfe's original with the Jose Gonzalez's cover: Gonzales strips the songs of that energy I like making it like all other love songs that do nothing for me, its just a song about love and not a real feeling of love.

May sound stupid, but Woods of Ypres carried me through grade school up until senior year when David Gold died.

I broke down crying the day after learning of his death during class. It hit me real hard and I get those familiar feelings when listening to any of their albums for an extended period of time.

This song gets pretty strong feelings from me as well.. Lazy summer days in between school, feeling alone yet hopeful at the same time.

I'll post a couple songs, but the first minute of claire de lune is easily the most powerful for me. I think of looking up into the clear night sky, alone with nothing but the ambience of the nearby suburban "downtown," seeing the moon so lonely yet delicately painted onto the dark, vast canvas of space beyond

a similar theme, but the singing adds so much more romance and longing.. it sounds like spending eternity in heaven with your one true love

This song always had a very homosexual and romantic meaning for me, but it also reminds me of a person I miss very much.

Good song, but I can't imagine ever having music play during sex. I also don't think I've ever heard a song that was erotic.
