Her name is Cocola, she has that name because she likes to drink coca-cola, so that's where the name came from. So she's been with me for like 4 years (since 2013), and since then my family treated her like a person in the family. She would always wake me up or cheer me up when im sad. She slept indoors on top of my computer desk so she could be with me. She died from depression and constantly vomiting

I'm so, so sorry to hear this friend.

She sounds like a blessing and a true companion. May she rest in peace.

No.338

I am so sorry OP, but I am so glad that you had Cocola, and that she had you as a friend and caretaker. I am sure she enjoyed her life with you until the end, and that she would have been grateful to live among your family. My deepest condolences.

Figures it was more of a popularity contest than a way to shine the spotlight on very important but less famous birds. Oh well, there's always next year. Hopefully all of the endangered ones make it ;_;

Do you ever hold birds? it's hard to appreciate them as well from a distance.

If i want to hold a bird what should i do? I can't hold still long enough to fool them.

No.78

I've never held a bird.

To keep us busy when we were being annoying, my mom would tell me and my siblings that if you could sprinkle salt on a bird's tail feather, it wouldn't be able to fly and you could hold it.

Spent hours. No pidgeons or anything lazy our backyard

I have held birds before, big and small. They're pretty wonderful in general - some of my favorite animals. Very light for their size, lovely, and colorful.

/BAVI/, they're cutting down a huge tree in front of my apartment building! I've loved this tree for years and years - so many birds and squirrels would land and play in it. Now, the mexican gardeners who can't be bothered to maintain the property are chopping it down entirely.

I am so sad, /bavi/.

That seems to be the way of the big city, and then as soon as the tree is cut down, the space is unoccupied - why not install a scenic billboard or lamp post to be covered in dog urine and offer nothing in the way of fresh oxygen, housing for birds, shelter for ants, or nectar for bees?

RIP to all of those lovely trees in your home town.

No.263

>>262
The worst part is that it was a widely unpopular move; the protests against it made national papers, and a couple of old women were even arrested for trying to stop it happening when the crews turned up.

No.264

A well-designed lamp post is beautiful. I understand that many are generic, but ones that aren't do exist.

No.265

You know, I know many cities and towns have arbor initiatives of sorts. Maybe you can plant treees elsewhere in its memory.

I am so sorry they still went through with it. What a loss. It will be hundreds of years until that level of damage can be rectified.

>>264
This is true, however it is not true of the lamp posts here in Los Angeles

>>265
>arbor initiatives
>planting trees

One things that proves BAVI is that they plant trees as a full time job already. They only need the space, and that is really what limits the growth of trees here in the big city…

I am planning on joining a coastal cleanup day effort, as well as volunteering on a construction site for Habitat for Humanity's veterans housing projects on Saturday.

My second startpage result, the first was some penguins but it didn't load and wasn't as nice anyway. Very odd that startpage gets different results, perhaps it isn't as 'private' as it claims…
